FLAC simulates the excavation and installation of lining support for an advancing monolithic precast concrete shaft. The simulation is performed using the axisymmetric geometry configuration in FLAC. Three analyses are performed: (1) an unlined shaft is modeled and results compared to an analytical solution, (2) a concrete lining is added represented by zones, and (3) a concrete lining is added represented by axisymmetric shell structural elements.
